SPONSORS

has so far provided most of the funding to set up and run FMN with corporate donations, but extra support has been welcomed from churches and some individuals' donations. FMN Romania, together with Fmn UK, is continuously searching for additional donations, sponsorship, funds and grants in order to provide better service as well as increasing and developing the range and quality of its services for disabled orphans in the first stage, and to cover ever increasing running costs generated by the hyper inflation and economical and financial instability of Romania.

If you are interested in how you can sponsor, donate or provide some other form of support for our project for the benefit of our children, contact us

Quality Standards:
Our project control standards are high. Based on each child's personal needs and evolution, as well as on each child's learning abilities and progress rate our care and nursing staff, logo-paediatrician and psychiatrist specialists are focusing on individualised personalised therapy programs, implemented with scrupulosity on a day-by-day routine. The FMN professional staff is among the best in the field. Our goal is always to provide the very best living environment, love, care, affection and therapy for the children's complete recovery. This goal is of paramount importance. We look forward to hearing from you, and working together towards the therapy and full recovery of the children with special needs.

There are currently 5 children, all with special needs, at FMN home. They are mostly ‘social orphans' who have been abandoned by their parents at birth or when very young. Some have congenital mental disabilities & some have behavioural problems due to previous abuse or neglect. They can be hard work but they are all very cheerful, full of fun & very affectionate. All we are really asking of volunteers is to help FMN staff look after the children & show the kids that you care about them & give them affection in return for theirs.

          FMN Projects & Services
Fundatia Forget-Me-Not (FMN) has as the main objective to provide a specific range of services for disabled orphans in Romania. This includes providing a family type home, complete with all living comfort and facilities, love, care, affection as well as professional and personalized recovery therapy for each disabled child in view of his/her complete recovery and full social and communitarian reintegration.
Whilst Fmn, the British-based counterpart has the main purpose of rising the much needed finance and funds required for the proper running of the Romanian project, FMN, the Romanian charity has the job of making the best use of the funds made available by its British counterpart, by employing the best suited professionals for providing the disabled orphans with high quality care, affection and therapy on an individualized basis. Additional to this, the FMN Romania is using all volunteers (both national and foreign) as an addition to the main recovery and therapy programme, making the best use of their know-how and professional experience.
The Romanian charity consists of: Simon Long – president, Valentin Ghica – vice-president, Florin Georgescu - executive director, auditors committee: Dana Burlacu , Mihaela Georgescu , and Gabriel Burlacu – economists.

Between them, they have a responsibility to ensure that funds are appropriately used for the continued benefit of the children and running of the home. Additionally, the Romanian charity has the responsibility for continuously developing the level of care and therapy for the disabled children, as well as developing the public awareness on the specific needs of disabled children and their social reintegration. FMN has a policy to employ staff that are experienced & caring with disabled children. The FMN children need allot of understanding & patience due to their behavioural problems. Because of the stress, which the care staff may be under, FMN employs 6 care workers, a cook & a part-time teacher to spread the load. An executive director is responsible for all the staff, running of the home, supplies, daily accounts & liaison/compliance with social services requirements.

Access to education: All FMN staff's efforts are directed in helping these children in returning to normality, by providing specialised professional care, therapy and education, each according to each child's personal needs. It is a lengthy process: building up self-confidence, learning to walk, learning to talk, to eat, to develop the habits of personal hygiene, learning to behave according to social rules, learning to walk on the street, learning basics on the road safety, making the children to feel that they are somebody and appreciated for what they are, helping them recover and return to a normal civilised and useful life.

Love, Care, Affection: The current FMN project is providing disabled and/or special needs orphan children with a family environment, love, care, affection, personalised therapy and education in order for them to start the recovery and reintegration process, to return to a normal life. For achieving this goal, Fmn UK with its counterpart, FMN Romania, have purchased a real estate and built a modern house, complete with all furniture and electrical and electronic household equipment, securing all commodities required by a decent life.
